What Asha's Place Lisbon Offers for Burned-out Women?

Most healing spaces are designed to help you escape. They offer a temporary fix, a weekend of bliss before you're thrown back into the life that exhausted you. Asha's Place Lisbon is different. It’s not an escape; it's a doorway. It's a spiritual school in Lisbon, Portugal, created to help you reconnect with your body's wisdom and energetic power. It’s a place to come home to yourself, built for women who have done everything “right” yet still feel disconnected and tired.

I built this space because I know what it's like to have the life you worked for feel completely misaligned with the life you want. After years as a successful attorney and tenured professor, I looked great on the outside but felt like I was spiritually dying. I realized the remedy wasn't more achievement, but learning to trust my body and create space for real rest. Asha's Place is the container I wish I had, a place where high-achieving women, especially Black women and women of the African diaspora, can stop performing and start remembering who they are.

What Is Asha's Place Lisbon?

Asha's Place Lisbon is a healing studio and spiritual school located in the Bairro Alto neighborhood of Lisbon. But it is not just another yoga studio. It’s a dedicated space for learning the language of your own energy. We use practices like yoga, dance, breathwork, Reiki, and sound healing as vehicles to help you hear your own intuition again. It’s a school where the curriculum is your own well-being.

Founded by me, Asha Wilkerson, this space blends the structure from my past life as a lawyer with the intuitive, body-based wisdom of my present work as a healing guide. We offer a range of experiences designed to be different doorways into the same room: reconnecting with your own power. This could be a single class, a private retreat, or an Ancestral Tarot Card Reading. Each offering is an invitation to slow down and listen to the wisdom your body already holds.

Our community is intentionally centered on Black women and women of the African diaspora, who often navigate spaces that demand they be twice as good for half the recognition. This is a room where you don’t have to explain why you’re tired. It’s a place of belonging, where your whole self is welcome.

How It Works: An Energetic Tune-Up

Think of it like learning to play an instrument you didn't know you had: your own energetic system. For example, a woman might come to us feeling completely burned out from her corporate job. She’s been told mindset is the key, but affirmations just feel like another thing on her to-do list. She doesn't need another framework to perform; she needs to regulate her nervous system so her body feels safe enough to change.

She might start with a Private Breathwork Session. During this session, she isn’t just doing breathing exercises. I guide her to notice the sensations in her body, to understand the science of how breath impacts the nervous system, and to create a feeling of safety within herself. According to research from institutions, controlled breathing is a proven method for reducing stress and activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's “rest and digest” functions. This isn't woo; it's biology.

From there, she might feel ready to join a group class or even one of our Solo Retreats in Portugal. The initial session wasn’t about fixing her. It was about giving her a tool to access her own inner stability. That's the tune-up. It's not a one-time event, but the beginning of learning to become your own guide.

Healing isn't about adding more to your already overcrowded life; it's about creating space. It’s about regulating your nervous system so your body feels safe enough to change and connecting to something older and wiser than the pressure you've been under your whole life.

What Asha's Place Is Not

It's crucial to understand what this space isn't, because the wellness world is full of confusing terms.

  • It is not a traditional therapy practice. While the work we do is deeply therapeutic and can be a powerful complement to clinical therapy, I am not a licensed therapist. Our focus is on somatic (body-based) practices, energy work, and intuitive guidance to help you connect with your own inner resources. Many who come here are also in therapy, finding that this work helps them integrate what they're discovering on a deeper, bodily level.
  • It is not a fast-paced fitness studio. While we offer movement classes like yoga and dance, the goal isn't a workout that leaves you depleted. The intention is to move in a way that feels good, releases stored tension, and reconnects you to the feeling of joy in your body. It's an unhurried, gentle approach to movement. This aligns with a growing understanding that gentle, mindful movement can have profound benefits for mental and physical health.
  • It is not a temporary spiritual high. Many retreats offer a peak experience that fades the moment you get home. Our goal is different. We are a school, teaching you skills and awareness to integrate into your daily life. The aim isn't just to feel good while you're in Lisbon; it's to equip you to create your own sense of safety, clarity, and belonging wherever you go. True well-being isn't a vacation; it's a way of being. As research from groups like the Global Wellness Institute emphasizes, wellness is an active pursuit of a holistic and healthy life.

Who Is This For?

This space is for you if you've been successful by every external measure but feel a quiet, persistent sense of disconnection. It's for the woman who is tired of performing, tired of explaining herself, and ready to stop carrying weight that was never hers to begin with.

It is for the woman who has read the books, done the workshops, and tried the apps, but still feels like something is missing. She's smart, she's capable, and she's starting to realize that the life she wants no longer aligns with the life she has. She doesn't need to be fixed, because she is not broken. She just needs a safe, supportive space to remember the truth of who she is.

If you are a Black woman or a woman of the diaspora looking for a place that sees you, holds you, and honors your full experience, this is that room. If you are ready to stop outsourcing your power and come home to yourself, this is your doorway.
