Ep 39: Truth & Freedom: A Guided Meditation
What does it mean to fully embody your truth? In this episode, I guide you through a powerful meditation to connect with your ancestors and explore the essence of truth. Inspired by a recent ancestral writing class, this practice invites you to listen deeply, feel into your lineage, and uncover the wisdom waiting for you. Truth isn’t about accuracy—it’s about freedom, authenticity, and being seen without masks or filters.
As you move through this meditation, you’ll be encouraged to notice where truth resonates in your body, what messages your ancestors have for you, and what it requires of you moving forward. Whether this is your first time connecting with your lineage or you’ve done this work before, I invite you to sit with these questions and embrace the experience fully.

Welcome to this meditation to connect with your ancestors and to feel into truth. This meditation is, is, This meditation is inspired by my ancestral writing class where the instructor asked us what it would be like to sit with truth. Or he said something similar to that. And it gave me a whole
wave of emotions and connections. And I wanted to turn around and ask you a similar question. So whenever you are ready, feel free to close your eyes and to make yourself comfortable. Start to regulate your breathing and intend to connect with your ancestors. And if you've never made contact with your ancestors before, I want you just to think about the loved ones and your lineage, the healed ones.
Whether you know them or not, just intend to open your heart and to open the door to communication and information from them.
Asha (01:15.35)
And when you feel like you have connected, I want you to ask your guides or your ancestors what it means to be in truth.
Asha (01:48.12)
I want you to think about where you feel this answer in your body.
Asha (01:57.122)
For me, the tears are already starting to come.
Asha (02:03.906)
The connection that I made was that truth is so close to freedom. It's an expression, it's an uncovering, is seeing me, seeing my ancestors, seeing you, seeing your community exactly as they are, uncovered, unprotected.
almost undisturbed.
Asha (02:43.286)
And truth doesn't necessarily have anything to do with accuracy, or at least that's not what I'm intending to have you connect with. It's not about being right or about being accurate. But just keep asking your ancestors, do you want me to work with truth?
Asha (03:20.012)
I want you to take note of whatever answer you receive. I want you to think about how it feels in your body.
Asha (03:43.726)
What does truth require of you?
Asha (03:53.838)
What does it require you to do or to stop doing?
Asha (04:24.182)
And now I want you to ask your ancestors if they want you to work more with truth.
Asha (04:36.096)
Ask them if they're ready and ask yourself if you're ready too.
Asha (05:00.97)
Notice again how you feel in your body.
Asha (05:06.786)
what energies are present, what locations are lit up for you.
What does it mean? How does it feel?
Asha (05:29.698)
Whenever you are ready to come back to the present moment, take a big inhale through your nose. Bring the air all the way up to the crown of your head. And then exhale through your mouth, letting all of your muscles relax.
Asha (05:52.366)
For me, being in truth meant freedom, as I said in the beginning, and it meant being uncovered. It meant not people pleasing, not hiding, not protecting, but being everything that I am. All that I am, where I am, however I am. Not to be confused with
the truthful anger that can come out. Maybe that is an experience that you just had, but that wasn't what I had. It was more like an uncovering, an exposure, a challenge or a dare to be even more raw. And when I felt the emotions in my body, first it was just a single tear that rolled down the side of my face feeling like who has actually been able to be
in their own truth without having to cover it up to make somebody feel better to get a little further ahead to play nice so things wouldn't be so tough.
Asha (07:08.8)
And then that was immediately followed with this zing and this current of electricity, almost like an excitement that was running through my body. Like, wow, it would be so powerful. Like just another volt as if I had plugged myself into the wall outlet. Another sort of light bulb, another circuitry felt like it was able to turn on or would turn on when I allow myself to stay connected.
to truth. And it's very factual, just is what it is. It's not about proving a point or being political or anything like that. It was just standing in truth. So I'm really curious to know what this felt like for you. Depending on where you are listening to this, please leave a comment or send me an email at hello@ashawilkerson.com I would love, love, love
to hear your experience of sitting with your ancestors and the idea of truth.
